Australian switchboard manufacturer, Aussie Switchboards, is staying ahead of the curve and keeping pace with advances in automation and AI with investment in a new facility, growth in staff, and strong association with NESMA.
Aussie Switchboards designs and manufactures high-quality steel switchboards, control panels, and electrical enclosures from its Molendinar facilities in Queensland. It serves markets including residential, commercial, and industrial markets such as education, childcare, medical, aged care, EV charging stations, airports, warehouses and more.
“As a Queensland based company, we’ve found added benefits from being part of the newly established NESMA Queensland branch,” says Aussie Switchboards Business Development Manager, Alison Benitez.
“NESMA Queensland has helped us improve out communication with local supply authorities, so that we are recognised as a supplier that works alongside these energy distribution companies for mutually beneficial outcomes,” she says.
Aussie Switchboards moved to an upgraded, larger facility in 2024, where it offers end-to-end capabilities from engineering and fabrication all the way through to assembly and final testing, all under one roof. This provides reduced project risk, faster timelines, consistent build quality, and customisation at scale for any sized project.

Keeping up with industry trends
With automation and AI continuing to grow at an exponential pace, switchboard manufacturers are in a position to grow with these technologies.
“We’ve made big investments in our facilities, team, and technologies – and with the implementation of AI impacting switchboard designs and the advanced machinery we now have access to, staying ahead of the curve is what spurs us on to continue growing,” says Alison.
“We’re also seeing an increased interest in renewable energy projects, as companies look to decrease their environmental footprint and meet ESG targets. The residential, industrial, and commercial sectors remain as strong as ever, with high demand for fast turnarounds and sustainability,” she adds.

A united industry through NESMA
Even with healthy competition in the switchboard industry, Alison believes teamwork is needed to make sure everyone is up to date on regulatory changes and requirements, such as AS 61439.
“NESMA strengthens our capability, credibility, and commercial reach through practical industry support and peer-driven standards. It unites us as an industry and offers us the support to be proactive manufacturers,” she says.
“We appreciate the support and resources NESMA has provided over the years. That kind of backing has really helped us grow as a company. We’re grateful to the NESMA team for keeping us on the forefront of our game and we’re excited to see what next year holds for us.”
